AI in the Classroom

How Oak Grove approaches artificial intelligence in learning.

Oak Grove approaches artificial intelligence the way we approach any powerful tool: intentionally, and with people at the center. Our AI Guidebook is a shared guide for exploring, adopting, and using AI in ways that are safe, ethical, and human-centered — building trust through responsible, transparent use, supporting staff, students, and families with practical guidance, and preparing our community for the future.

In classrooms, an AI Use Levels visual helps students understand when and how AI may be used on a given task, so expectations are clear and transparent.

Our guiding principles

  1. Human-Centered AI — People and relationships remain at the heart of learning.
  2. Deep Learning & Critical Thinking — AI supports rigorous, authentic problem-solving.
  3. Empowerment, Not Replacement — AI expands what's possible while keeping student voice central.
  4. Safety & Responsible Use — Student safety, privacy, and ethics come first.
  5. Equity & Access — AI is used to remove barriers for all learners.
  6. Critical AI Literacy — Everyone in our community builds the skills to use AI responsibly.
  7. Ongoing Reflection & Refinement — Our approach adapts as the technology evolves.
